Planning for Christmas
It is that time of year once again to start looking forward to Christmas. However, this can also be a very stressful time, when you have a lot to organise ready for the big day. Whether you have lots of family coming over, or are holding a smaller gathering, or even a boxing day brunch or new years eve party, the run up to the Christmas period can actually leave you feeling stressed and wiped out if you aren’t careful
The key with making sure that you have a hassle-free Christmas is good organisation and being prepared – here are some of the key things to think about in the countdown to Christmas that will save you from last minute panics!
Plan the Menu – You may not be having a huge 6 course meal, but you will still want to make sure that you have the food in that you want for Christmas. A really good way to save the last-minute panic in the supermarkets is to pre-order the things that you want in advance.
Many supermarkets offer this service, as well as local farm shops and butchers. So, plan out what you are going to be serving on the big day and make a list of the things that you will need. You can the pre-order it, ensuring that you have all the right things ready to collect a couple of days beforehand and save yourself the stress of looking for the last bag of sprouts on Christmas eve!
Get the Gifts – You don’t have to go overboard with gifts – being thoughtful about what you buy is the important part, and you can even try your hand at home made gifts. Think about the person that you are going to be buying a gift for and what they like – for example for a man who always likes to look his best, look at something like these mens Mish Mash clothes https://www.louisboyd.co.uk/clothing/brand/mish-mash.html or if you have a relative whose garden is their pride and joy, then treat them to something lovely for the garden. Thinking about peoples likes and interests is a good way to get to choosing gifts that they will love.
Decorate – One of the best things about the festive season is the fact that although it is cold and unpleasant outside, the home is a beacon of light. From the pretty fairy lights on the tree, to large garden light displays, everyone has their own idea of what makes a place look festive but taking some time to do the decorating is a great way to get into the Christmas spirit.
If you try to rush it or to fit it in amongst other jobs it is much more likely to stress you out, so here is where the planning comes in – put some time aside to do the decorating a particular day for example and then stick to it.
