Creating the Perfect Garden to Support Local Wildlife

Creating a garden that is beneficial to wildlife is something that requires some careful thought and consideration. You also don’t need acres of land to have a garden that is friendly to wildlife, any size garden can support many of the native wildlife species with some planning and thought.

Firstly, using native trees is a great way to get started. Again, if you don’t have a large garden this doesn’t matter at all, there are many beautiful trees that are native to the UK that are on the smaller side even when fully grown and support an array of wildlife. From the beautiful silvery barked silver birch tree to the garden favourite Rowan. If you don’t want to have to wait years for them to grow, you can look for semi mature trees for sale from places like this //www.naturefirst.co.uk/semi-mature-trees/

Another thing that helps in a garden is having a selection of plants that are good for pollinators like bees and butterflies – a patch of wildflowers brings both summer beauty and a helpful food source for these creatures, It is also a good place for hedgehogs to hide in and feel safe. Plants like poppies, cornflowers and ox eye daisies are all popular options that are easy to grow.

If you have a lawn, use real grass rather than the artificial type – fake grass is terrible for the environment, generating plastic waste and also leeching these dangerous substances into the soil below.
