The satirical consumer affairs television series “That’s Life” starring Esther Rantzen started on the 26th May 1973 and ran for twenty-one years!  At its most popular point the show managed to engage over nineteen million people and had an audience from far and wide.  The show fought to get justice for ordinary, hardworking people who had been scammed or ripped off by criminals or even legitimate companies that had not operated fairly or honestly. Esther and her team were the KYC professionals of yesterday but nowadays there are modern, state-of-the-art companies who can research potential clients on your behalf.

Just like Esther Rantzen and her team, these professional companies will fight for the innocent, hardworking, business owner and make sure any potential new client is legitimate and trustworthy. With over four hundred and forty-two episodes of this popular show, it shows there was and still is, a genuine need for somebody to fight for the innocent and make sure there is no risk of money laundering or credit fraud when dealing in the business world.

Esther Rantzen also starred in the television series “House Trap ” where hidden cameras would try to trap rogue traders completing botch jobs on people’s homes and then charging them extra money to put it right.  This programme highlighted the importance of checking out any workman before allowing them into your property.  This is why you must Know Your Customer and your Workman before you do business together.
