Various Vehicles On The Busy Roads Of Britain

Read Time:1 Minute, 16 Second

These days our Country Roads, Dual CarriageWays, A Roads and Motorways are busier and more congested than ever!  With most individuals, couples and families owning at least one vehicle it’s no wonder we sometimes get caught up in traffic-jams and snarl-ups!  From Lands End to John-O-Groats there are roads that allow vehicle access to almost anywhere!  From two-wheeled bicycles to multi-wheeled juggernauts and from WAV Vehicles to mini-buses, from Ambulances, Fire Engines, and Police Cars to breakdown trucks and coaches, so many different vehicles being driven on our roads, (often at speed), around the Hi-ways and Bi-Ways of Britain.

Let’s look at some of those vehicles in more detail, WAV Vehicles for example, what are they and who drives them?  Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles is the proper name for these specially adapted cars, mini-buses, and other vehicles that have been modified to allow for wheelchair access.  They can be driven by anyone with a full UK Driving Licence as long as the Insurance Policy on the vehicle covers them.  They can be driven by the wheelchair User themselves, a friend, family member or Carer as long as they have permission from the vehicle owner.

Ambulances, Fire Engines and Police Cars, otherwise known as Emergency Vehicles, are clearly visible on our roads with their distinctive markings and loud sirens. Two wheeled bi-cycles and Motorbikes should always be given plenty of room and remember to always look twice at junctions!
