General Household Collections

Fortnightly collections of general household waste and recyclables in kerbside bins. Note: Loose batteries, liquids and hazardous items are NOT accepted in household waste. These items are accepted in bags of household waste but not left loose beside the bin for collection as these will NOT be collected.

Bulky Items

Bulk waste, including items such as sofas, mattresses and white goods, need to be collected by your district council, with some items carrying a small charge for collection. As the bulk waste collections are booked through your district council, these can book up quickly, especially during busy times of the year.

Hazardous Materials

Many types of batteries, paint and other household chemicals are classified as hazardous waste and cannot be put in your household waste bin. Many supermarkets now have a designated drop off point for used batteries. Paint and other hazardous household waste is accepted at Norfolk’s Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs). Garden Waste
